C29 Metals Expands Ulytau Uranium Project

C29 Metals has successfully secured an additional tenement adjoining its Ulytau Uranium Project in Kazakhstan, significantly expanding the project’s footprint by approximately 213 square kilometers. This strategic acquisition is set to enhance the potential for substantial uranium discoveries in the region.

Strategic Expansion and Historical Significance of

The newly acquired southern tenement, identified by application number 1905-EA, is located in the Almaty region of southern Kazakhstan, approximately 15 kilometers southwest of the historic Bota Burum mine. This region has been a prominent hub for uranium exploration since 1953, with the Bota Burum mine commencing operations in 1956 and continuing production until 1991. The mine’s total reserves are reported to be around 20,000 tonnes of uranium, equivalent to 44 million pounds.

Potential for New Discoveries

C29 Metals believes that the new tenement shares a similar mineralized trend with the existing Ulytau project area, indicating significant potential for further uranium discoveries. Historical geological work in the area has already highlighted substantial uranium deposits, positioning the Ulytau project for notable development.

Positive Operating Environment

Shannon Green, Managing Director of C29 Metals, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition: “It is very exciting to have this highly prospective application granted in such a rapid time frame. This is further demonstration of the positive operating environment in Kazakhstan and the support the company is enjoying.”

Immediate Plans and Future Exploration

In March 2024, C29 Metals signed a binding agreement to acquire complete ownership of the Ulytau Uranium Project. Following this agreement, the company announced plans to initiate ground geological works immediately through its established in-country network. The initial efforts will focus on field mapping, locating historic drill collars, and translating technical documents and data to create a new geological database.

C29 Metals also outlined plans to commence initial drilling programs aimed at validating historic data and exploring both underexplored and unexplored areas within the new tenement.

This expansion marks a significant step forward for C29 Metals, reinforcing its commitment to uncovering and developing uranium resources in Kazakhstan. With a clear plan for immediate geological work and exploration, the company is poised to capitalize on the promising potential of the Ulytau project.
