Why Cornish Lithium Stands Out in the Top GreenTech Companies 2025

Cornish Lithium’s inclusion on the Top GreenTech Companies 2025 list reflects its leadership in responsible mineral extraction—a critical issue as demand for battery metals surges amid the energy transition.

The company’s Trelavour Hard Rock Project aims to produce battery-grade lithium hydroxide directly in Cornwall, bypassing the need for refining in Asia. Its parallel initiative, the Lithium in Geothermal Waters Project, explores the recovery of lithium from geothermal brines while simultaneously generating clean, renewable heat.

“It is a huge honour for Cornish Lithium to be recognised globally for making a positive environmental impact,” said Jeremy Wrathall, CEO and founder of Cornish Lithium. “The UK currently imports all its lithium, yet Cornwall holds the largest resource in Europe. Our goal is to supply more than half of what the UK’s EV industry needs—right here at home.”

A Critical Player in the UK’s Green Industrial Strategy

As the UK races to meet its climate targets and secure critical mineral supply chains, Cornish Lithium’s work is seen as a strategic asset. Lithium is essential for electric vehicle batteries, grid-scale storage, and renewable energy systems.

The company’s innovative approach to mineral development focuses on environmental stewardship, using closed-loop systems, water recycling, and low-emission technologies. These factors contributed significantly to its high score in TIME’s independent review.

“Lithium is the gateway metal to a green future,” said a UK government official working on critical minerals policy. “Cornish Lithium exemplifies how the UK can lead in sustainable resource development.”

Recognition Fuels Investor and Policy Interest

Cornish Lithium’s inclusion in the Top GreenTech Companies 2025 report is already boosting its visibility with institutional investors, policymakers, and global sustainability networks. The company recently secured public and private funding, including investment from the UK Infrastructure Bank, to scale its operations.

This recognition also sends a signal to global markets: companies that integrate environmental performance with innovation and economic viability are increasingly viewed as the most valuable and resilient.

“We are building more than a mine,” Wrathall added. “We are creating a responsible supply chain that aligns with net-zero goals—and positions the UK at the heart of the clean energy revolution.”

Cornish Lithium’s selection among the Top GreenTech Companies 2025 confirms its growing role in reshaping how the world sources critical materials. With a firm commitment to sustainability, domestic supply, and technological innovation, the company represents a new blueprint for mining in the era of climate accountability.

As global demand for lithium accelerates, Cornish Lithium is proving that responsible mining doesn’t just reduce emissions—it creates opportunity, resilience, and long-term strategic advantage.
