The agreement marks another important step in both companies’ commitment to corporate social responsibility and supporting the transition to a low-carbon future. It builds on a 20-year partnership between Eramet and Vibrantz, creating a reliable route for Vibrantz’s production of manganese sulfate, which is used in the production of electricity for vehicle batteries (EVs). Eramet’s manganese ore will be sourced from its mine in Gabon, which will implement an Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) audit process to align its operations with international best practice.

Christel Bories, Chairman and CEO of Eramet, said: “This agreement confirms Eramet’s ability to satisfy and earn the loyalty of its customers and partners by delivering high-quality ore produced under responsible conditions.” “Eramet Hermann is a responsible key player in the battery value chain with our long-lived, high-grade strategic metal deposits such as manganese in Gabon, lithium in Centenario, Argentina, and nickel and cobalt in Indonesia.” Bay. “

Bories added that Eramet aims to have all of its factories subject to IRMA audits by 2026.

Previously, Vibrantz announced it would build a pilot plant to process battery-grade high-purity manganese sulfate (HPMSM) at its Tampico, Mexico facility.

“As Vibrantz strives to be a sustainable, premier provider of specialty chemicals and materials solutions, we greatly value our continued partnership with Eramet,” said D. Michael Wilson, president and CEO of Vibrantz. “This agreement enables Vibrantz is able to leverage both companies’ 50 years of combined experience in manganese chemicals to work toward making environmentally friendly vehicles a reality for millions of consumers.”

Wilson also said the company’s recent investment in HPMSM capacity continues to receive positive market acceptance from battery manufacturers and automotive OEMs.
