The signing was disclosed in a press release from Caterpillar, the world’s leading construction and mining equipment manufacturer. Caterpillar also produces diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, diesel-electric locomotives, and diesel-electric locomotives, among other things.

Gainwell Engineering will be able to build medium and high seam underground room and pillar equipment due to the arrangement, which will help the company meet the expanding demand for coal in India and other nations.

Energy security from coal continues to be the critical source of energy supply for India and other rapidly developing economies.  Aside from providing aftermarket replacement parts and providing service support to Caterpillar’s current room and pillar equipment and highwall miners, Gainwell Engineering will also provide service assistance to the company’s new room and pillar equipment.  Gainwell Commosales Pvt. Ltd., previously known as Tractors India, Gainwell Engineering, is a division of the company.

The company’s efforts are in keeping with the country’s goal of becoming a manufacturing center.  In Kolkata, Gainwell Engineering will build its manufacturing headquarters. The company’s plant in Panagarh, West Bengal, would be erected on 35 acres of land at the cost of Rs. 500 crore on property purchased from the government of West Bengal. It is expected to employ more than 250 people when it is fully functioning when it opens.

Powered by Caterpillar technology, Gainwell manufactures a variety of continuous miner models, face haulers, roof support carriers, scoops / multi-utility vehicles, feeder breaks, and highwall miners.  Gainwell Engineering is acquiring Caterpillar’s IP license to ensure clients have a smooth transition. We will continue to provide the breadth of innovative products and excellent service they expect from Caterpillar.

In response to the agreement, Caterpillar stated they are pleased to transition the medium and high seam underground Room and Pillar equipment, as well as the aftermarket licensing, to Gainwell Engineering. Gainwell will invest in a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in India, from which it will export its goods across the world. Caterpillar and Gainwell will collaborate to ensure that the transition is as painless as possible.
